Just a few details remain before the body panels can be put back on...

Before the panels are installed, all of the various hardware will be replaced. Every fastener that secures something to the fiberglass is held by a riv-nut (a.k.a. nutsert) and many of those are rusty. All broken (and even questionable) ones will be drilled-out and replaced... and all along the bottom (where they are exposed to more moisture from the road) will get replaced. The only job that gets worse than this is scraping old sealant off of the roof structure...

All of the original steel machine screws will also get replaced with new stainless steel machine screws, whether they're rusty or not (and most are).

One infill panel; reinstalled with new fasteners and fresh sealant. It's a detail that one would never see unless the quarter panel is off, but if it ever needs to be accessed years down the road, it won't be a rusty mess on this car.

Like most DeLoreans, the lower door piston mounts on this car were bent. This can become a big problem; the doors are heavy and this little bracket does a lot. Eventually, it could bend enough to break and rip off of the car, taking some fiberglass along with it! The wimpy original pieces will be removed and replaced with these industrial-strength upgrades from PJ Grady - this is something that I think every DeLorean owner should strongly consider installing.

Driver's side mount installed. Those are 10.9 grade bolts and 1/4" rivets... the fiberglass would snap before this mount goes anywhere. Those ugly stains will be hidden by fiberglass pieces and sealant.
